Yes, the boys can be quite potent come breeding season, but I make it a point to have well mannered bucks. If they get a nasty attitude, they are gone as soon as possible. I prefer to hand raise them myself so they are trained to my standards. William is the perfect example of this rearing. Into his sixth breeding season and I can walk up to him, grab him by the collar and lead him away from does in heat with little to no fuss.
Bucks rarely make it through three seasons here because we need variety. However, with the two breeds, I am hoping to be able to retain bucks for a longer spell and since I am looking at registered bucks, I can hopefully sell them into breeding herds as well.
Onto our loveable, huggable (maybe not so much when in rut) boys!

William was sold earlier but will probably be returning to us the beginning of December. His new owner, who is elling off his goat herd, adores William as much as we do and couldn't take him to the Sale Barn any easier than we could. He is a gentle giant and if you are interested in him, he is definitely still available.

Boy.....this buck has sure had quite the struggle. After the 12 hour trip home when he was a week old, I woke up 7 hours later to find him down in his pen. He was unable to stand for two months following. As a result he would never be quite right. His front legs were slightly deformed but he did stand and walk without hinderance. You could only tell when he tried to move quickly and if you knew to look.

To say I am devestated is an understatement. This buck was what I had hoped for for our herd for quite some time! He was just a gorgeous and promising little buck. So much so, that I was actually considering attending a sanctioned buck show next year and taking him. He was taken from us far too young. I lost him to an unknown illness that took him in less than three days despite my best efforts to stop it's progression. I have been given his half brother out of Full Power as a replacement from a good friend.
After seeing his stunning offspring, it hurts that much more. I ended up with one daughter out of Legacy-P. The grade Nubians he settled both produce polled bucklings. Such a shame.
